Wrong driver for Intel 8260/7265/7260/3165/3160 WiFi Driver

I used dell to detect my system and then recommend drivers.  It recommended an update for my Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260.  My current driver is version 18.33.3.2.  Dell recommended an update to 18.40.0.9. However, the file that actually downloaded is for version 18.20.0.9 (Network_Driver_VJY7Y_WN32_18.20.0.9_A01.EXE - this is how it shows in my windows explorer).  I guess it could just be a mislabeling by someone and it is the newest version.  But the system detects that it is at least listed as being older than my current version and stops the install.

Dell should correct this.  Do you know if there is actually an update to my version?  Link to driver page below:

There could be but we would need to know what computer you are running.  You can also go to downloads.dell.com, select your computer and it will show a list of every driver available for every operating system compatible with your system.

I think, if you look at the Intel site for a driver it will do the same type of thing.  There is a note stating the driver version may be different depending on the actual Device and OS.

The Inspiron 7537 shows a Centrino Wireless-N 7260, is this not correct for your system?  Did you enter your Service Tag or just look at the General page?

Note:  Do not give your Service Tag here...

You are correct, that the N 7260 is the card it came with. I upgraded to the AC last year.

used my service tag.
