buzzing sound in external speakers after shutdown (Dell Inspiron 15 7568)
Hi guys!
When I turn off the laptop by using shut down or hibernate there's a loud white noise in the external active speakers which are connected via audio/jack cable.. Using my old laptop for 5 years, that never happened. What could be the solution to the problem? Aside from turning off the speakers - I always need them on so that I can use them with Chromecast audio connected to Aux-in.

Hello. Sorry for the delayed reply -- I got side-tracked by a hurricane and am just getting caught up.
Try switching between the Conexant audio driver and the Windows native audio driver and see if that makes a difference. Here are the instructions, but note that on some 2-in-1 models these instructions don't work.
Test the audio driver by switching between the Realtek driver and the Windows native audio driver.
1. Open the Device Manager (find it in the Control Panel, or type devmgmt.msc into the search box).
2. Expand the "Sound, video & game controllers" and right click on Conexant.
3. Select to "Update Driver Software".
4. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software".
5. Click "Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".
6. Put a check in the box "Show compatible hardware" if not already checked [but SEE NOTE].
7. In the list of devices, click "High Definition Audio" (the native driver).
8. Click "Next".
9. On the Update Driver Warning box, click "Yes" (install the driver).
10. Restart the laptop if prompted. If not prompted, sometimes you have to restart, sometimes not.
[To get back to the Conexant driver, do it again but reverse the names in steps 2 and 7.]
NOTE: if you have a 2-in-1 model and do not see a "High Definition Audio" option after step 6, then uncheck "Show compatible hardware". Then in step 7, if you see 2 "High Definition Audio" devices, select the 2nd one. It migth appear as "Intel High Definition Audio".

Hello, thx 4 the answer. I tried switching between the 2 drivers -> the evil bug still lives...
Additionally, I wasn't precise in my description of the problem - the noise comes after the shutdown/hibernate command, even after the laptop switches off - as if the lapto would enable the internal sound circuitry after the switch off.

Janos, see the latest version of the BIOS. In the "Fixes & Enhancements" notes, it says "Fix audio noise issue when unplugging AC".
That is not quite the same as your laptop's issue, but maybe it does address it.

I had installed that BIOS but the symptoms remained unchanged.
Thx 4 the suggestion anyways.
