I have been trying to find that 20gb Seagate hard drive with the 8mb buffer so I can upgrade my CpiA.  Seagate's part number is: st92811a.  I've looked almost everywhere and even Seagate says it is unlikely I will find one.  Anybody have good news?

I am trying to get better performance out of the 400mhz processor, but feel a 40 gb drive is going to defeat the gain of 5400rpm and an 8mb buffer due to the larger size.  That is, more space to scan, all the time.

Thanks,  LittleDoc

On the contrary, a 40gb drive is quicker on access than a 20gb for the same amount of data, and the 5400 rpm with a large buffer is better yet. If you still want a 1st class 20gb 5400rpm w/8mb buffer, look for a IBM 40GNX 20gb. You may have to find it on Ebay since I believe that model has been superceded by a newer one since Hitachi took over IBM Storage.

Look at   www.newegg.com  They have the Seagates you asked about and a 30gb Hitachi P/N14R8825 which I have in my Inspiron 3500, and is worth a look. It is 5400rpm and has the 8mb buffer
