Due to technological limitations faster rotation speeds require lower data densities and thus less Gb per disk.
5400 rpm is currently only available in 40 and 60 Gb models although I suspect that an 80 Gb version may be arriving soon.
There is also a 60 Gb 7200 rpm model from hitachi offering desktop like hard disk performance.
You can do as I did, buy an external hard disk casing for about 50€. There are models barely bigger than the drive itself. You can put the 80 Gb drive in there and use it as fast external storage (provided it is connected to a firewire or usb 2.0 port). This is a cheap way of expanding the 'limited' storage of your laptop
Hitachi and IBM seems to be a very good combination as they are the only one the have big drives at high rotation speeds. Time for some healthy opposition though because these drives are very expensive!
I hope they can keep their production up to the demand as it took one month before I had my 7K60.
As for those casings, most large computerstores who sell separate parts offer them.
