'Dell Media Experience is unable to detect your VCD' after inserting a DVD.

Question

Hey all, This is my first post. I just got my 5150 last week and things were moving along great. I installed some movie making software to try out and after that I can not play standard DVDs. I have not tried a VCD because I never created one. My system is a 5150 with a QSI CDRW/DVD SBW242U running XP-Home. The movie software works with the HP movie writer hardware (HP3000DSC??). The hardware is a DVD burner that takes in composite video, transfers it to your computer via USB, you can make edits, then burn it on a DVD or VCD. I never got it to work correctly before my friend had to take it back home. Since then I have uninstalled all the software, deleted the DVD drive in device manager etc but nothing seems to help. It reads data CDs, plays audio CDs and can read the files on a DVD. But the Dell Media Experience software always gives the complaint below. I know the DVD worked before because I tried it before installing the movie maker SW. 'Dell Media Experience is unable to detect your VCD. Please ensure that the VCD you have inserted is supported by your drive.' I have not called tech support becuase I can't find their number!??!   Thanks in advance for any help on this one. Brian

Just an FYI - I found the 'Dell Media Experience' CD and removed the SW and installed it.  That fixed it.   Brian
