Dvd-rom is not responding.

Hello,

I am using Dell Inspiron 14 N4050 from 2012 but from last few months i am facing a problem. Whenever i enter a dvd/cd in the dvd rom it does not respond, even it does not spin, there is no sound and that little yellow light even turns off after 5 seconds. What should I do??? It is very urgent for me to setup windows 7.

Shoumik,

Leave a data disk in the drive and run the diagnostics to see if the drive has failed and needs replaced. To run the diags on the system follow the information below.

Launching ePSA

  • Tap F12 during startup
  • Select Diagnostics.

Testing Devices using ePSA

  • The ePSA starts running the quick test without waiting for user input.
  • To select a specific device to test, users can tap the Esc key.
