Hi and thanks for the post.

You might double check your iDRAC licenses.  The server config stuff is fee-based and looks for the presence of the OME license on the iDRAC.  If it does not have a license you might see that behavior.  If I recall there is a pre-canned License report in the "Reports" section that might help to see if any OME licenses show up in your inventory.

Thanks much,

Rob

Hi there,

The iDRAC enterprise license you have below is good, _but_ it also needs to have a line that reports the additional license for this feature:

Server Configuration for OpenManage Essentials

Do you see any of those on the report?

Thanks,

Rob

Thanks for fast answer.

I attach one line from report. Could you check is it OK? I cut service tag and entitlement id if it is necessary just ask.

Device Name Device Type Device Model Device Service Tag License Description License Entitlement ID License Status License Type License Expiration Date
esx09drac.eservice.local SERVER PowerEdge R730 CUT iDRAC8 Enterprise License CUT OK Perpetual NA

Hi there.

Your iDRAC should have the following license attached in order to work with this feature:

Server Configuration for OpenManage Essentials

Thx!

I ran into the same issue ("Deploy configuration template not find any capable device") assuming that iDRAC Enterprise should cover everything ever needed.

Apparantly all the magic about deploying config changes and even just checking compliance against a certain config baseline will NOT work unless you have the following iDRAC licenses:

"The OpenManage Enterprise — Server Configuration Management and OpenManage Essentials licenses are required ... for deploying device configurations and verifying configuration compliance on servers."

Hi @DELL-Rob C Thanks a bunch. All I had to do was to traverse to the Reports section and Run the latest License report. For all of our servers attached to OME, we had 2 types of licenses.

iDRAC9 Enterprise License

OpenManage Enterprise Advanced

For the asset tag that I had issues, only iDRAC license was installed and OME was missing due to which some of the advanced OME options like deploying templates/profiles wasn't available. The asset tag was not visible for selection at all. I thought there were problems in discovery and had to remove the server from OME and discover it again.

Thanks for pointing me to the right direction, I can sleep peacefully
