no OS image for this Tag, though images exist for this product
Hi Guys,
the laptop in my hard drive dead so I was advised to buy a new hard drive and restore in using the OS disc that came with new laptop. Unfortunately I don't have the disc so I was advised To get the recovery disc's from the Dell Site, but when I put the Express Service code in I get this message
"no OS image for this Tag, though images exist for this product"
So where do I get them from?

Not Express Service. Service Tag.
Two different numbers.

Use Microsoft's Windows 10 Media Creation Tool to get a Windows 10 Version 1709 Installation .iso. This .iso will automatically input all Dell Windows 8 OEM Product Keys, Dell Windows 8.1 OEM Product Keys and Dell Windows 10 OEM Product Keys embedded in the UEFI BIOS during installation. It will also accept any Dell Windows 7 OEM Product Keys printed on the affixed COA if they are manually input.

I have had the same problem with a Dell Opitiplex 780US. I put in the Service Tag i.e.
and received the "No OS image...." message. I was trying to get the OS image for XP for this machine and I have no idea where to look next. The hard drive is OK, but because the OS and drivers are completely missing (I bought it 2nd hand) it will not acknowledge the optical device (CD/DVD) drivers, therefore calling the DVD drive Drive A: I'm in a loop with this as it will not proceed to install any of my XP versions. The OS image was all I could think of but ....... No OS image for this tag, though other images exist for this product. It won't even proceed to show me what the other images are! Any ideas?

Windows XP Reached End of Life in April 2014... and is no longer safe to use. Moreover your old Windows XP installation media likely lacks the storage controllers for 2010 hardware.
Looking at the Service Tag that Dell came with a Windows 7 Pro COA...
You can use the key on the COA to clean install Windows 10 Pro. More details here (note this system has a Legacy BIOS so use the MBR partition scheme for BIOS when making a Bootable USB:

Old OSes are no longer available fr dwnld.
However, Win10 & Ubuntu16.04 are still available.

I have XPS 8700 with Win 7 Home upgraded with free Win 10 upgrade. Am I going to able to format my hard disc and re-install fresh copy of win 10 with this Windows creation tool USB?
