T5600 won't update BIOS
I have a T5600 system with BIOS revision A06.
I have tried running BIOS updates from:
1. Windows (both by running the .EXE as Admin and through SupportAssist)
2. DOS
I have tried A07 as well as the most recent release.
The upgrade starts, I get the "Gathering Requirements" message then the "Preparing Update" message. The computer reboots and then nothing kicks off...I'm still in A06.
Any ideas would be helpful.

You could try the update using a bootable USB drive:

To install the BIOS update using a USB flash drive:
Create a bootable USB flash drive.
Download the BIOS update file and save it to the USB flash drive.
(Make a note of the name of the BIOS update file e.g. O9010A12.exe)
Power off the Dell PC.
Connect the USB flash drive and restart the Dell PC.
Press F12 key at the Dell logo screen to enter One Time Boot Menu.
Using the arrow keys, select USB Storage Device and press Enter key.
At the command prompt, type the full BIOS filename e.g. O9010A12.exe and press Enter key.
Follow the instructions in the BIOS Update Utility screen to complete the update process.

What happens if you try and downgrade the BIOS first, then attempt to update?
You could also try using the switch -forcetype when running the update from DOS (this should force the BIOS update on to any Dell system)

I tried that with a FreeDOS USB flash drive - same result (no update)

I'm not sure you saw my response but I have followed all of these steps and the computer will not upgrade.
I'm an IT professional and I have been working on PCs since 1982. I was also a professional technical writer at one point so I know how to follow instructions.
Is there any other documentation on the EPROM in these computers about why it would not be running the update or some jumper on the motherboard that would prohibit an upgrade?

Thank you for your recommendation. I followed it and the BIOS will still not update. No error messages are generated, it is like the EPROM does not have room for the file or is somehow locked and will not kick off the update.
