Do any stores like officemax or office depot sell laptop harddrives?  Also ok if I freeze it and want to transfer to a new harddrive how would I go about this with a laptop?

no go on taking it out and putting it back in.

All i get on startup is a black screen that says no operating system.  If you hit any button it makes like 3 clicking noises (like it is trying to read the HD)

since you reseated it and it doesn't show up in the bios, it sounds like the drive is toast. some people have had luck in just puting the drive in a zip lock bag and put it in the freezer overnite and then back in the system to recover data. I have had luck on a bad drive just tapping it on a table to get it to work. it doesn't sound good for you.

good luck

Thanks again for all your help.  Hopefully the freezer method will work and I can save some of my files.  I will let you know if the new HD works

Hey guys....I have the same problem with my Inspiron 1150 but I dont know how to take the Hard Drive out of the laptop....If you guys could help me with that, it would be muchly appreciated  . Also, if I do manage to take out the hard drive, will that void my Dell warranty?

this should help and no it does not, it does if you damage your system doing it.
