The most important requirement to do this is a video card that supports dual output. Please post back your system and video card, if you know it, and someone can provide more specific help.

By the way, we have just such a setup at church, running on an Optiplex, so it can be done. My son is really the expert, but I can ask him for details. Some applications are more amenable to doing this, but it should be possible using a DVD program.

Thank you for taking interest in helping us.  Here is the info you requested:

    DIM 4600,PENTIUM 4,2.4GHZ,MMT,INT   - 64MB GEFORCE4 MX 420 W/TV OUT VIDEO,TIED - WINDOWS XP

We are currently using two software programs that use dual monitors.  Powerpoint and Song Show Plus.  Both work very well.

Yes, we also use Powerpoint and Song Show Plus. I'm not sure if your card supports dual video out. I'm going to e-mail my son and our church computer genious, both of whom run our setup, to see what we have. But I know for a fact that we can play DVD through our projector. Check back tonight.

Ok, here's the deal:

We have a dual port video card in the PC that drives two completely separate video outputs.

  1. Output #1 is plugged into the monitor on the left (for setting up song lists and previewing)
  2. Output #2 plugs into a video distribution amp that generates 4 outputs:
    • Port #1 plugs into the video projector
    • Port #2 plugs into the PC monitor on the right (shows what is projected)
    • Port #3 plugs into a wireless video link that drives a monitor on the stage (so the band can see what they're singing)
    • Port #4 (unused)

You need to determine of your video card can support dual output.

Thank you for the information you have provided.  We currently have that set up.  What is specifically needed is the ability to separate the controls on "Dell media Experience."  We need to be able to have the controls on monitor 1 while having the picture on monitor 2.  Do you have any information concerning this?

Not that I know of. This is probably more of a software question. You may want to post this to the Software-Other forum.

Hi Sem,

I tried searching for any information on separating the controls for Dell Media Exp, but came up empty, too not having the program myself makes it hard to fiddle with !!

Hi John,

Good to see you, Mike and ol`e Tom posting in here more, Jack & I were getting lonely !! Actually I think he might be getting sick of me, I bug him to death ... lol..

Would you be interested in writing a short / long article on the set-up you just mentioned for the CD/RW site.
I am sure it could come in very handy.

Take care

God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do and the eyesight to tell the
difference.

I'll try working on something. The system we have at church is a Precision with dual optical drives and the dual output video card. I know nothing about the video port. My son actually runs the system so he can help me.
