How to get highly used LUN's from huge list of LUN's

Hello,

Can any one help me to filtter highly used CX LUN's (e.g. top 10 as in performance manager) using navisphere performance analyzer?

Is it possible in navisphere performance analyzer? I have collected NAR files for 2 days and need to generated such output show management for most highly used RG's, and LUN's. I will appreciate your help in advance. Thank you.

Regards,

Peri

Hi Peri,

I guess if you get the " generate report" from Navisphere and select the information you are looking for eg "Physical Disk Information"

This report will let you know the details of the LUN Usage in %, User Capacity and Raw capacity with the Storage pool name and LUN numbers.

Please correct me if I am wrong Friends

Warm Regards,

Preeti

Here's what I do to narrow my list down...

I open a NAR file

Select all LUNs (there is a select all feature).

Check Response Time, or Total thoughput, etc...

It looks like a bunch of spaghetti, but usually some stuff is hovering over everything else.  If you mouse over some data points, it will tell you what LUNs they are.  Once you get a list of your LUNs, just look at the metrics on those.

Some LUNs won't be busy at all.  I usually uncheck all of those right away.

You can also zoom in to get a bigger view that isn't so spaghetti-like.

unfortunatly, i dont think there is a way to see the top 10 with Navisphere Analyzer.  you are going to have to select the type of info you are looking for (utilization, response time, etc) and then click all your luns and see which ones are the highest.    That will be a very cluttered window but i dont know of anyother way.

Someone else might have a better idea...

You can use the Navisphere Analyzer "DUMP" function - go to Tools/Analyzer/Archive/DUMP - from there select a NAR file, check the "Generate Dump Name", then follow the menus to select All LUNs, then select Object Name/Poll Time/ and the vaule you want to look at - if Total IOPS, select that, if Total Bandwidth select that also - you can select a number of values - then finish - the dump will be output to a CSV - from there you can open in Excel and sort the columns
