You can install just about any IDE CD drive (DVD, CD or DVD burner) as they have a very standardized interface, just make sure that you meet the system requirements of the particular drive you purchase. Your system also has USB ports (USB v1.1) so a USB drive should work also, again make sure your system meets the system requirements of the drive you purchase.
I too have a Optiplex GX110 with the small form factor chasis and I am looking to upgrade to a DVD burner. I am problems locating a slimline DVD-RW that will fit into the machine. Do you know of any that are compatible? Would I be better off just getting an external unit?
Just about any slimline optical drive should work in this system. Most major computer hardware retailers carry various slimline models or you can try contacting the Dell Spare Parts department to see what they have available. Our Spare Parts department can be reached at 800-372-3355 (M-F 7A-6P).
