Hi Guys can a Brit join in? I have a Dimension 8250 and have recently install a PlextorPX712A. I cannot get Roxio Dell Movie maker to recognise the dirve, the icon for DVD burner in Roxio is grayed out, could this be the version of the software and if so what do I need to upgrade to.
Yes the drive is recognised, it appears to be working fine. I think the problem lies with the Roxio software. Having imported and edited the video and then come to prepare it for burning, I am given three choices, DVD, Tape, CD/VCD. The dvd is grayed out. I have tried the Roxio website to down load any updates but require a code to enter, but because the software was delivered with the system I do not have a product code and so far Dell have not responded so catch 22!. Having searched the internet it appears others have a similar problem both with Roxio and Dell.
Nereo 6.3 came with the drive and I agree Nero has a very good reputation and I am looking forward to using it, just very frustrated that I cannot get the video I was working on burnt to disc. I have tried importing the finished product into Nero from Roxio but so far no luck but I do not give up readily so will keep looking for a solution.

Thanks for the reply. I already did the firmware upgrade, an I am using Roxio 5 Basic with DVDproject ability.
Could the firmware upgrade have killed only the dvd writing ability of the drive??

Thanks Tom.
It works. Somehow, I forgot to upgrade Roxio during the last reinstall. I hate when that happens.
