Navisphere can no longer manage (SP B). This does not impact server I/O to the storage system.

Hi,

I just got this message from my production CX4-240 array:

Event Number 743a Severity Error Host A-IMAGE Storage Array FCNCX087900328 SP A Device N/A
Description Navisphere can no longer manage (SP B). This does not impact server I/O to the storage system. See Navisphere Manager Alerts for details.

is this something that I need to worry about or just a warning message ?

Vipin, thanks for the quick clarification, so yes I get this error randomly not sure how, and worried if this is an actual production system issue or not because the severity is Error.

Where else to check in Unisphere 6 console ?

because when I right click and select the Fault Status, it says that "The array is operating normally"

In my understanding it happens when SP agent gets restarted. If the storage is healthy and you are getting this alert frequently, you can get this checked by the clariion lab by providing the logs.

Please have a look at the SP events for similar errors and to know how frequent it is appearing.

No Problem. Happy to help!

I saw your comment on the document and following is my response:

As the document/KB Article Suggests, you need to first check the Network Connectivity. If it is fine, check SP Events for Error 743a, if logs shows few instances you may ignore it as Vipin rightly said, it could be due to SP Agent was restarting. However, if you are getting this Event on a regular basis. Please, open a Service Request with EMC Technical Support for detailed investigation.

Ankit, many thanks for the advice, so I guess this was once in a random.

Not sure what caused the SP agent restarting.

It may be due to older flare versions - management server restarting on it's own is sometimes due to activity on the array or a memory leak in the older code. Check your version and compare it to the latest release - you may need to update the flare.

The answer remains the same. However, you may check if you have received any Hard Bus Peer Error or SP Reboot related SP Events?

If yes, Please open a Service Request with EMC Technical Support for a health check with fresh set of SP Collects attached!
