Does Prosphere offer any kind of reports?

For the current build of 1.6 ProSphere reports can be found within the Explore tab under the sections Storage or Service Level. More reporting options / features will be added with later releases of the product.

The Explore area of ProSphere supports the display of discovered configuration items across the enterprise. Unlike the Dashboard, these exploratory views are simple enumerations of objects of a given type, without summaries or supporting graphics. Because the range of data can be quite large, the tables support sorting, filtering, and the hiding of unneeded columns

The Explore area is broadly divided into two areas Storage and Service Levels, each covering multiple types of configuration items:

Storage

Arrays
LUNs
Replication
Pools

Service Levels

Service Levels
Array by Service Level
Host by Service Level

When either the Storage or Service Level UI view is selected the green plus sysblom can be selected to open existing reports.

They can be manually edited by selecting the filter option to add or remove colunms from the reports and these can be saved etc...

The reports can be exported to .csv files or printed by selecting the icons in the top right of the UI.

Another option to pull information from the ProSphere databases would be to use the ProSphere RESTful interface to access the dat. (Details can be found from EMC ProSphere Rest API onlinehelp and al)

The ProSphere REST API is a RESTful interface that allows access information managed by ProSphere. By using the REST API to retrieve data discovered and calculated by ProSphere, application developers / users can build their own applications / reports and mashups that leverage this information.

We currently use StorageScope for billing of our Clariion/VNX and VMAX customers, when will ProSphere be ready to make the same reports?

Can REST be used to obtain utilization numbers of storage used by a particular host?

Currently using Storage scope with host agents is a pain to keep up with. If I can get utilization numbers straight into Excel with no more host agents that would be great!

The next release of ProSphere 1.7 will include various enhancements that will improve the ability to do chargeback reports.

• There is a new viewblock (table) found in Explore -> Service Levels titled Chargeback by
  Group that supports chargeback reporting for any of the groups or smart groups.
• Capacity chargeback now supports the ability to email and schedule Dashboard and Explore views created in ProSphere.
• Capacity chargeback for virtual machines is now supported.

In our environment, Prosphere acts as a great "aggregator" of events.  It leverages the embedded event monitoring and management interfaces in each product and pulls it all together.  For instance, when you buy a VNX or Clariion, you pay for Unisphere to manage it.  When you buy a Cisco switch, you pay for Fabric Manage (DCNM) to manage it.  Neither product costs "extra" and Prosphere can connect to them to collect event information and configuration data.  For us, Prosphere helps link causality, as I can see switch errors, host errors and array errors in one interface.

I think of Prosphere like a handy pocket multi-tool - it has basic versions of most of the things you need.  The full SRM suite is akin to a workbench full of tools.
