Networker Module for Microsoft v8.2.2 Extremely Slow on Browse/Restore

We're trying to get Networker Module for Microsoft version 8.2.2.6.985 set up and running on a Windows Server 2012 R2 Domain Controller.

Backups seem to work well but restores simply are not possible because any attempt to browse the backup for specific AD objects results in what looks like a hung client.  Packet traces of the communication between the DC and the backup server, however, indicate that the tool is browsing through each and every object in the backup - at a rate of about 2 per second.  With 600,000+ objects in the backup, at that rate it's pointless.

What am I missing here?  Why is NMM so slow?
