How to make old data in old sourceone available to new one?

Hi all,

We have a project where we installed a new SourceOne environment with a new exchange and ADS environment. This one is working pretty fine but the question now is, how do the people get acccess from their new windows account and mailboxes to the old environment which is in the old domain?

The problem so far (what I know) is that you have to specify access to this data containers on the SourceOne environment but how to do this? Right now we have a ADs / LDAP querry which gives permission to the ADS user based on the email address but the old data is in an old domain, do you have any idea how we can give new users access to this old environment?

- ADS querry in old domain?

- LDAP querry

- Migrate data from old data container to new one?

- any idea?

Thank you,

Cheers

Greetings,

You may want to consult with EMC certified partners who knows SourceOne inside out or with EMC professional services.

Many customers changes domains or sometimes even forests. Changes required for SourceOne to work depends upon what has changed.

Hi Duker,

If you add the ExchangeLegacyDN to the Ad-users attributes for each user, they should be able to acces (and only their) own archived data.

If you need any help on implementation, you can contact me.

Hi

Thank you, that sound quite interesting. Does this work without the old domain or do we need to keep on running the old domain?

Hi Duker,

The DN should suffice, the old domain can - theoretically - be decomissioned.

Note that you should test intensively before dooing so of course.

Sorry, but just adding the DN to users will not help, because the old archived data is not available through the new SourceOne environment. You'll need to somehow get the old archive, that is the stored data as well as all the database entries, into the new SourceOne. I think your best bet is to migrate via Transvault.

Greetings,

To my knowledge transvault should not be needed. You can move your existing SourceOne environment from old domain to new domain structure with help from partners know would have done it before or EMC professional services. There are things to consider which they should be able to explain. Once that system is in new infra you can manage two archives from same console of SourceOne. There are things to consider which is why I recommend professional services teams.
