I definitely understand the fun with wanting to upgrade your PC. However, Dell is too proprietary for case swaps with other brands. In the original case, you still have the diagnostic lights.
If your 3010 was an MT, then a PSU swap would be possible.
I've tried 2 generic psu's in my Dell 3010 and although the 24 pin connector fits, the board powers the fans on and off weakly, when I put the original psu back, it runs fine. I've seen some adapters on eBay, but not sure if they'll work. Anyone have this experience?

The ugly way to overcome this is to remove the poky power supply and run the wires thru the hole left behind.
The power supply sits OUTSIDE the case.

I'm curious too - If Sportz ran the EVGA B1 500w PSU outside the case, would any adapters be needed?

The 3010 uses standard 24 pin EPS 12v connectors.
The 3020 uses proprietary 8 pin connector.

24 pin connector is only 1 aspect.
The power supply must be EVGA 700BR or equivalent.
80 percent efficient and 150W combined on the 3.3v /5v rails.
NON EPS 12v power supplies and units with LESS THAN 150W on those rails will not work.

This is why the B2 BQ G2 N1 W1 versions of EVGA power supply DO NOT WORK where as the B1 and BR versions do.

Also, take note of the power supply used in the video. Alot of misinformation being spread around on these forums, have to set the record straight.
