Studio XPS 9100, Start Up performance
I've been attempting to upgrade my Dell Studio 9100 performance. Since two windows upgrades previously, my startup time is abysmal. I have two work laptops (Dell and HP) and one personal laptop (Surface Pro) that start up in 1/8th the time this 12 processor, 24 GB Ram and now two Terabit SDD hard drive starts. I've updated the Bios and i'm now downloading the "SupportAssist Installer" software. The solid state Crucial MX500 2TB hard drive doubled my hard drive throughput; however, my processors and ram are yawing waiting for the data still maxed out at 100% on my solid-state drive. I've got to be missing something that facilitates more rapid access for startup (poor performance SSD, new, faster, ram memory, new controller, ??). Just asking how to get same startup performance from this perceived desktop beast to what I have on three of my laptops. Regards, Matt

Not uncommon for Search to be hogging resources in Win 10.
Couple of approaches to try:
1. Right-click Start and on Run line, type in services.msc and click OK. When that opens, scroll down to Windows Search and double-click it. Click Stop button and then set its Startup type to disabled. Don't change anything else in services.msc. Exit and reboot. If that helps, you can try changing the Search Startup type to Auto Start-Delayed in services.msc and see if it's acceptable that way.
2. Search for Indexing and click Indexing Options. Click Modify and change which folders and items are being indexed. Fewer items means "faster".
3. If none of that helps, you may need to rebuild the Search index file. So Google how to do that in Win 10.

Thanks for your help. Between getting the right hard drive (SSD vice HDD) and eliminating the search function (as well as a few other start up programs), I gotten my computer to start up in 2 min vice 15 min.
BIOS is still the long-pole and doesn't seem there is much I can do there without a significant upgrade to the system.

2 min still seems like a relatively long boot time - to me.
I'd get rid of SupportAssist, and if your anti-malware app is set to look for updates at each reboot, disable that, at least temporarily.
Try booting with only mouse and keyboard connected to USB, with no other USB devices connected.
When was last time you replaced the motherboard battery?
