Sound card driver not working

Hey everybody, I have a G7 7588 and I have a problem with my Realtek driver. Basically the driver just doesn't work at all and doesn't recognize any sound devices. I purchased the laptop in May and it worked until I updated the sound driver with Support Assist - ever since then it hasn't worked. I did get a hold of Dell customer support and they "fixed" it but not really. The waves application stopped opening after they messed with my computer and it would no longer recognize a microphone - although it did play audio over speakers and headphones. I've tried to use the A02 and A03 drivers and neither of them work. When it finishes installing, it just quits working immediately after and shows the red X over the sound icon in the task bar. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is there a fix? I hate to buy a new computer and then have it not work as intended without messing with it. If anyone could help me that would be great. -Will

I believe I got the exact same problem. I hadn't had found any subject relatable so I just opened a new one.

Hi Erokay,

Thanks for making another post.  Were you able to try the troubleshooting I provided you in Private Message?

No need to make more posts when your issue is being worked already.  Thanks.

Upex,

Click the links below for resolving the microphone issue. Uninstall the audio device and reboot the computer. Once back up download the audio driver from the link below.
