It may just be a driver issue, click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 15, article 1. This article covers the use of Device Manager. As far as doing anything wrong, on the surface I cannot see think of anything.
You may end up having to uninstall Roxio, then re-install it.

I followed the instructions. Re-detected the devices LITEON as well as the NEC. Re-booted the system.
(Re) installed Easy CD Creator 5.3.5.10 incl all updates. The result is that at least the source as well as the blanc CD are reqocnized.
But I still cannot copy. After entering the source CD as well as the blanc CD, Windows ask me whether to burn with Roxio or to use a other application. It never did that before. After choosing Roxio nothing happens. Apparently it seems possible to copy with the Windows XP feature. But Roxio freeze.
Does anyone has suggestion how to deal with this challenge? Please...
Not a conclusive answer but some report SP2 is breaking V5. If true, it will not be fixed as the software hasn't been in production for over a year and a half.
You did indicate that Disc Copier failed after updating your drive.
I would suggest downloading the 5.3.5.10 update as well as the latest Driveup update. Then uninstall/reboot/reinstall. Don't reboot even when asked to. Run the 5.3.5.10 update and the Driveup, then reboot.
I enabled DMA in both channels the primary as well as the secundary. (re) Installed Roxio and the updates. And found/solved a conflict between the firewall (Zonealarm Pro and Roxio).
It seems that everything works. I can copy music as well as video CD/DVD. Great.
Still have problems with copying data CD's which I burned in the NEC using disk copier. Could that have something to do with closing / finalizing a process on the source CD ??

Thanks Jim,
I read something about the SP2 and the influence on V5. But as I haven't installed the SP2 yet that can not be the problem.
After starting disk copier Windows ask me to use Roxio Easy CD Creator to copy (never did that before). After that Roxio
freeze and the NEC blocs completely.
And that after I installed the driver updates for the LITEON as well as the NEC from the DELL download network.
Everything works except the disk copier. Could replacing Roxio by an other burning problem be a solution??
What can I do to get the copier working? Please!?

Sorry made a mistake. The text should be.....replacing the Roxio software by another program. Could that be a solution to get the copier working?
