Dell Performance Optimizer could cause unexpected USB disk disconnections ?
Precision 5530; two external 2 TB hard disks connected via a USB3 dual docking station.
I get regular (say, once a day) event 157 "disk has been surprise removed" in my logs, and when that happens, the disks are no longer accessible until I reset the disk docking station or the pc.
This ought to be a hardware issue, but I noticed that most of the time, there is an event 12 in the Windows System log a few seconds before the event 157:
"Log Name: System
Source: Microsoft-Windows-UserModePowerService
Date: 22/08/2019 17:44:49
Event ID: 12
Task Category: (10)
Level: Information
Keywords:
User: SYSTEM
Computer: Ben-P5530
Description:
Process C:\Program Files\Dell\PPO\poaService.exe (process ID:6072) reset policy scheme from {49ef8fc0-bb7f-488e-b6a0-f1fc77ec649b} to {8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c}
I have no reasons to believe in hardware issue with the disk docking station (it works OK with another, non-DELL computer)
Could there be a causal connection between these events ? Could the Dell Performance Optimizer service(s) somehow cause these unexpected USB disk disconnections ?
