Studio XPS 435T/9000 Hard Drive Upgrade to SDD

I need to replace the hard drive on my Studio XPS 435t / 9000 desktop. I know that I can replace it with a new SATA HDD but I'm wondering it I can use a SDD as the C drive and install a standard HDD for storage. Which type of SDD is compatible with this computer (service tag ). Does the motherboard on this computer have SATA III connectors?

Any 2.5" SATA SSD will work (you will need a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter to mount it, but the system has a SATA 3G controller - short of adding a PCIe SATA 6G controller card, you'll see half the maximum performance of a SATA 6G drive.

You can also upgrade the boot or C drive to a M.2 NVMe SSD and get speeds of around 1700 Mb/s.  Requires a PCIe adapter in the x8 slot and a Samsung 950 Pro, which you could get used from, for example, ebay.  See Dell's forums here for details.
