You are not the only one with problems with the new SA version.

Look in this tread: https://www.dell.com/community/SupportAssist/SA-not-working-after-August-30th-silent-update/m-p/7369537#M88758

I am currently in dialog with dell to solve the issue. There is no solution at this point as I am aware of. We just have to wait and dont use SA for the time being...

My pleasure to help.

I just got answer from one of the moderators and the recommendation from the engineers is to reinstall Windows 10. If that is the case I cant do that. I use my laptops in my work and one program as SA is not so important to go trough the hassel. And that it is not a guarantee that it will work. There have been reports of others trying to reinstall windows without solving the problem ...

Since this problem is widespread (more and more support treads regarding the same issue with SA) it nothing wrong with my or others operative system.

I will wait for a official fix that dont require a reinstall of W10.

Thanks for the update.  I agree.  Reinstalling W10 so SA may work seems a draconian step to take.  Sounds like they're working to figure out the problem.  Maybe should just bring back the version that works!  I really like SA (when it works) since it provides helpful information.  Without it would be hard to get updates for drivers from Dell.  Hopefully can get through windows updates or just working through the device manager list.  Hopefully the techs can figure out what went wrong and fix it sooner rather than later.

I totally agree!

Regarding drivers for your dell, it is easy to find them on dell's supportpage for your model. I use it often to check manually for updates. Just type in your service tag and all the correct drivers is listed:

Ever since I upgraded to Win10 19h1 1903 (2 weeks ago), the “Get Drivers & Downloads” would quickly go straight to 80% and stop; no error messages. It doesn’t matter how long I wait for it complete, it never goes any higher.

I uninstalled the SA (v3.3.2.46) and reinstalled it from a freshly downloaded copy from Dell. Now, the “Get Drivers & Downloads” goes all the way to 100%. Unfortunately, the “Scan Hardware” now never gets any further than 0% then it throws an error.

So, I hope Dell comes up with a solution sometime soon. In the meantime, I’m going to try and  find an older SA version and revert to that.

My System: 2018 Alienware Area 51 R5, Dual Nvidia SLI GTX 1080 Ti, Intel 7980 XE, 32GB Dual Channel HyperX, Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, fully loaded etc

If you are able to find a older version of SupportAssist please let me know. I have tried but no luck.

Just wanted to inform that I successfully installed supportassist this evening. It did work after the  Cumulative Update KB4515384 Windows 10 v1903 build 18362.356 Sept. 10. The only thing that was a bit strange is that it installed two drivers that already was up to date:

- Dell Touchpad Driver - A11 - 61.59 MB - Anbefalt - Installert

- Kionix KXCNL Freefall Sensor Driver - A02 - 83.85 MB - Anbefalt - Installert

But it they did install without problems with the same driver version.

So what made the difference I dont know, but happy I did not have to reinstall Windows.
