Dell Inspiron 15 3000 heat generated

Just got a Dell Inspiron 15 3000 laptop. The CPU never falls below 50, gets into the 70s very quickly and is always warm to the touch, even asleep. Disc is SSD 256 gigs.

Surely this isn't normal heat? Does it not carry risk of premature disc wear / failure? My old Compac HHD laptop only generated heat when performing some arduous task, at which point the fans kicked in. This machine either doesn't have fans or they're inaudibly quiet. This was a pricey machine (for me at least - £500 / $700), I don't want it going up in smoke in less than a year.

Thanks in advance.
