XPS 8900, Windows 10 2004, not ready?

I'm trying to figure out why this machine won't update to Windows 10 2004. I have an old Dell 7010 that did already but this thing still says "not quite ready yet". Anybody know what the "problem child" is that is causing the hold up? According to SupportAssist, all the drivers are up to date.

Thanks

Hi, @AZBigdog ,

I've got a couple of PCs (both non-Dell) that show that same message!

I think it is interesting that the "Phraseology" of the message "suggests" that it is the 2004 Update that is NOT ready, rather than the PC!

Other than that, it is just a case of waiting!

The "problem child" is Windows 10 Version 2004. There is a long list of issues with this version; even Microsoft's own Surface devices are blocked from receiving this update.

Clean install works.

So I would go that route.

I heard there was long list of incompatibilities with it, even with their own Surface systems.

I was just trying to see if it was possibly a driver that might be causing it. Even though Support Assist shows all the drivers are current I'm not sure that is 100% accurate.

If you have an NVIDIA graphics card, one of the issues listed is issues with older drivers for NVIDIA display adapters.

Hi, @AZBigdog ,

IMHO, it is quite possible that new Drivers (& I suspect it is a "Driver-Issue") are NOT available yet - hence will NOT show up via Support Assist!!

On that basis, I don't think that they are any options, other than "Wait & See"!

DCH Drivers don't install on INTEL HD earlier than 6TH gen.

DCH Drivers don't install on AMD or NVIDIA models that are now Legacy.

The auto driver install utils from INTEL and AMD do not work on legacy hardware.

But Clean install with OEM system builder DVD and then update and then Legacy Drivers Works fine.

The update now button has issues

The media tool works but there are other issues

I upgraded one of my 8900s from 1909 to 2004 a few weeks ago by downloading the iso. Didn't have any issues that i could see but 2004 isn't ready for primetime in my opinion. Read that one of the blocks is onedrive but I don't have it installed.

I'll just have to wait and see if/when it does show up. I was just surprised the older Dell got it first.  I'm not 100% confident SupportAssist is showing me the latest drivers either, especially for the network driver.

Interesting that one of the issues might be One Drive. I don't really use it on this 8900 but it is enabled on the older Dell I have that DID get the update.

I guess it definitely is still a WIP for that release.
