Hi @cyk00 welcome to this user to user discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.

The ac adapter's diagnostic LED is saying there is intermittent power connection between laptop and ac adapter. How to Identify AC Adapter Damage on Dell Systems | Dell US  How to Troubleshoot AC Adapter Issues on a Dell Laptop | Dell US  If you have access to another Dell ac adapter, please use this to determine that ac adapter is OK and laptop has a problem. Check external dc-in socket on the laptop for damage, dust, foreign objects, etc.

Support for Dell G3 3579 says dc-in socket power adapter port is easy to inspect, after remove base cover

Hopefully the cause of the intermittent power connection will be revealed so that corrective action can be undertaken.

This model had a known issue of charging after BIOS update 1.7.0

Which was fixed after next BIOS update

Check your BIOS version  Latest is 1.16.0

About the current issue :

Most Probably you are dealing with a Loose DC in port.

Try wiggling the charger cable in the port and see if you can replicate the issue.

If yes you need this

While a loose port could very well be the issue here, especially if charging states change in quick succession, this could also simply be:

  1. A feature of your laptop's power manager software that tries to prolong your battery's useful life by limiting charging cycles. Sometimes you can tweak this via settings by switching from a 'battery saver' profile to something else.
  2. A faulty power manager or battery driver. Performing an uninstall-reinstall can fix this.
