Disable the DLA portion of Sonic Record Now and see if the problem changes.
To disable Sonic DLA ............
1) Click the Start button 2) Double Click on the My Computer icon 3) In the My Computer window, right click on the CD device then choose Properties 4) On the CD Drive Properties screen, click on the DLA tab, then remove the checkmark from Enable DLA on your drives 5) Click the OK button, then restart computer
You may want to consider uninstalling DLA to see if that helps.
Your suggestion worked like a charm. Unchecking DLA resulted in the drive eject button immediately working. Too bad Dell support didn't tell me this - they could have saved a tech support visit and a replacement drive! Now I know where to go when I have a problem with a Dell (which, admittedly, is rare considering that I have 5 of 'em)!
Glad to here the good news George. That was a guess by me. Sonic RecordNow is relatively new to Dell and this Forum, but I have noticed that the DLA (packet writing) portion of it has been causing some odd problems. If you can live without DLA, keep it off. Best regards.
