XPS 8950, Video_Scheduler_Internal Error

XPS 8950

XPS 8950

So I've been having a couple of problems with the XPS 8950 and I don't think it's hardware related but due to drivers and maybe a few other things. My problems are

1. My fan starts out super loud in beginning of the computer booting up but then comes down, I'm unsure what this.

2. My computer will sometimes go hours but then randomly blue screen giving me Video_Scheduler_internal error. I have already tried reinstalling the graphics card driver a couple of times, but this is not it. The error message points to dxgmms2 being the problem. Help would be appreciated, I don't want to reinstall windows.

3. I also get this weird buzzing noise sometimes it lasts maybe half a second but only comes and goes maybe once every 15 mins

EDIT: Also to note I did reinstall my graphics driver and it worked for like maybe 4-5 days without a BSOD but then it started giving me that error again which is bizarre.

EDIT2: Quick update, I reinstalled the BIOS and the fan didn't run explosively on startup.

Does your XPS-8950 only have the on-board Intel GPU, or does it also have a dedicated video-card installed?

When you run DxDiag, do all the tabs report "No Problems Found" ?

Thanks for replying. It has the GTX 3060 TI. So far since I've updated the BIOS and a couple drivers it hasn't had the problem yet but I'm still waiting to see. However there is still the slight buzzing sound kinda like a static noise. When I updated the BIOS it mustive fixed the fan problem because I never adjusted settings in the bios. Yea I ran DXDIAG and a couple other programs to see if there problems and none showed.

Some of the things I've done:

-SFC /scan now

-Ran a memory problem none were found with the diagnostic

- I did uninstall and reinstalled the driver however maybe it wasn't done properly? It did stop the problem for like 3-4 days then it occurred again.

@Tehdemon  Just to clarify...Did you mean RTX 3060 Ti? And is your monitor connected to the video card or to the onboard Intel Graphics port on the XPS 8950?

Have a read here and here to see if there's anything helpful...

And you may want to run Display Driver Uninstaller (free) to make sure you remove the existing NVidia driver completely, before installing another video driver.

it's the Nvidia RTX-3060 TI and yeah, it's connected to the video card.

Cool. Here is your current Nvidia WHQL driver.

https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/192967/en-us/

When you install it (in the installer) , click the little box to do a complete "clean install".

After it finishes, do a reboot.

Set these like this:

Windows-11 Game-Mode is On (Enabled).
Windows-11 in Settings/Display/Graphics
- Locked these to High Performance (ie. the Nvidia Graphics card) ... for Steam, Fallout-76, etc.
- Also any programs and Apps that are graphics extensive.
Windows-11 in Settings/Display/Graphics/Change Default Graphics Settings
- Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling (HAGS) is DISABLED

Hmm so what about the weird static noise I hear every so often? It's like super short and lasts maybe half a second. Is it a sound driver issue?

@Tehdemon  Are you using audio over HDMI (or DP) via your NVidia video card ,or Realtek Audio from rear audio ports on PC?

Alrighty I did this just gotta see if it happens again. I remember doing the reinstall a while ago and then my computer was fine for 4-5 days then it happened. I'll update back to see if it re-occurs

I'm using the rear ports or realtek
