Compatible, yes.
Plug in play, but you'll have to have windows format it and reinstall everything, of course..
It uses marginally more power, but I haven't seen a noticeable decrease in batt life.  But then any disk that spins faster will use a little more power
System wise, it will be faster, but that's a good thing.
At the moment, only Hitachi makes a 7,200 rpm disk.
 
I have an i8200,  so I can't comment much on that aspect.  But the performace leap from 4,200 to 7,200 rpm and a bigger cache will be nice.

Not will be, but is. The drive is fast and quiet, a real nice improvemnt over the 4200 that came with my i8600. :smileyvery-happy:

Actually that drive only uses more power than a 4200 or 5400 rpm hard drive when it actually starts up but thereafter power consumption is roughly the same.

I'm going to pick up the Hitachi TravelStar around Christmas time. Hopefully my friends will be extra generous this year...
