I think your drive is a CD-RW & CD rom. The 52 speed is how fast you can burn a cdr and thats why in nero you have speeds to select like 52x, 48x,42x ect. But this has very little to do with how fast the CDrom spins to play a mp3 cd. What i would say is try a mp3 player like Winamp lite or WMP.
I cannot verify the use of either but thought you might be interested.

You can't help it when the drive spins loudly when accessing data but at least changing the spindowntime via nero drive speed to 32 sec will probably be better. My previous high speed SONY cd burner has the spin down time sets to 4min at default mode. I was extremely annoyed.
Can the "collective" please help me ? My @! &*" Dell is spinning my CD's at @ 10 million RPM - all the time....even when trying to listen...and it's getting on my nerves.

Hi Steve,
Nero does have a Utility to adjust the read spins, called Drive Speed, this might be a more updated version
http://www.setiathomescreensaverspeed.co.uk/downloads/freeware/cdrom/speed/reduce.htm
I also found this link:

I cannot verify the use of either but thought you might be interested.

Sorry...Nothing seems to work. I have adjusted Nero until I am blue in the face, and it does nothing. I have downloaded a newer version - nothing...
BTW - I'm using the CD drive for straightforward audio CD... Not copying or anything...
CONFUSED !!!:smileysad:
