Are you sure you have a 4600? 4600 does not have a SATA connector, only has IDE's, you could only put 2 IDE HDD.

I just checked the invoice. It says I have a Dell Dimension 4600. The hard drive is described as follows:

R0190 HARD DRIVE, 120G, I, 8M, 7.2K, Serial ATA, SEAGATE-ALPINE

Paranoid_Andriod.

As you will see from the following, the D4600 supports both SATA and PATA [ATA/IDE] hard drives and you can install a SATA HD with a
PATA HD in this system.

Bev,

Thanks for the links. I looked at the same documentation for the 4700 and that computer only has one IDE connection. That's why you can only connect 2 IDE drives.

Thanks again.

What you wrote about the D4700 is correct, but the D4700 is a totally different system to the D4600.   In the D4700 you would have to use a PCI IDE controller card to add four addional IDE drives and there's no AGP slot.
