The CMOS battery removal will have absolutely no affect on this and that post should be ignored.

it works well, also you may wnat to try and uninstall the cdrw drives them selve in case it may be driver relatefd but 10 to 1 its a bios loseing its configuration so resetting the battery or a bios flash will definatly help

Jack is correct, the CMOS battery is a waste of time in regards to this post and again TheBomb should be ignored.

K9,

Glad to hear the firmware update seemed to help, and yes checking for these updates from the Downloads link under Product Support Tab above is a good idea.

Best Regards

Perhaps I am jinxing it, but the R902 firmware update seems to have worked. It is now 24 hours later and the drives have not gone missing.

Hello everybody:

How can I instal this update 902?. I don´t know anything of computers but I have this problem. I just brought my Dell Dimension 4700 on Junary 28th. and the CDRW doesn´t work any more. I very upset with Dell about this, My last computer was a no branded and work until I replaced it for my new Dell.

Thanks in advance for your help.
