Server reinstall - drivers to connect to AX4
We have a 2003 R2 SP2 Dell 2950 with a pair of Emulaex LPe1150's (Firmware 2.70A5, Storport Miniport Driver 5.1-30A9) that connect (via a pair of Brocate 200E's) into an AX4-5 FC dual controller.
It came pre-installed from Dell and I've never really messed with the EMC/Emulex stuff but may now have to look at reinstalling the server with Windows 2003 x64 to work around some VSS issues (paged/non-aged pool stuff).
I'd appreciate a bit of a sanity check please - my understanding is that I "simply" re-install Windows, re-install the drivers for the HBA's, then install:
Powerpath 5.2 (seemingly NOT SP1 due to the memory leak issue?)
Navisphere Host Agent 6-28.2
NaviCLI 6-28.2
As I understand it, because the host is already registered with the SAN and all the zoning/LUN allocations are in place, it should see all the LUN's from where I do all the regular stuff in Disk Manager.
Firstly, does that sound about right please?
Secondly, I'm a little confused by the different types of HBA driver on the Emulex website - I believe what I want is the full kit at http://www.emulex.com/downloads/emulex/cnas-and-hbas/drivers/windows/storport-miniport-driver.html which gives me the latest storport miniport drivers but there's mention with both that, and PowerPath of MPIO updates which is confusing me a little.
Any help/advice appreciated - should stress I'd be wanting to ghost the server before doing any of this so that I've a backout plan.
