Just thought I would post here to see what the opinions are.... Basically I have a desktop at work and at home that I want to get rid of in favor of a good powerful laptop. Games are pretty important & so is performance, But on the same hand I want to be able to take the laptop to the library or Starbucks and that kinda thing as well so the 8600 seems like a good size I know someone said "Well it's only .5" bigger.." but thats 1/4 the thickness of the laptop!

This was the config I was looking at for the 8600

1.7 Pentium M
1024 Mb Ram
60 7200 RPM HD
Radeon 9600

That being said I can get all that for about the baseline price of the XPS. (Which would have a lot less ram) I mean I don't know for sure but wouln't you think a system like the 8600 would be able to play HL2 and Unreal Tournament 2004?, maybe not. Most of my time is spent coding (But also using 3D Apps) so while coding isn't bad the 3D Stuff uses any power the system has.......

Does anyone happen to have an 8600 configured like above who would be willing to run some benchmarks on it? That way I could run the same on my work system (Which is a 2.4 Ghz machine) and see how it compares.....

Any thoughts please post them!
