Tech installed new processor but without any thermal grease
Hello,
Dell had a field tech replace the processor in my Inspiron 9300. He didn't use any thermal grease.
When I asked him about it, he said Dell didn't ship any and so it doesn't get any. (He said he doesn't carry it himself (I suspect as the cost would come out of his pocket).)
OK, I'm wondering am I right or wrong . . . Is having thermal grease on my laptop's processor important?
I think it is important, but am unsure how to proceed. Is it enough that I think it is to have Dell send someone out to put it on the processor *OR* should I wait to see if the processor over heats? If I wait then how do I quantify the heat to Dell?
Thanks for your help!
Bert.
