I have a dimension 2400. I have used the NEC CD/DVD-RW drive before to burn some music CDs. It worked fine. This past weekend, I was trying to burn some VCDs and realized that RW drive is pretty much dead. It doesn't see even a regular disc. I can't read from it and I can't write to it.

I uninstalled the driver in device manager and rebooted my machine but when the machine came up, it recognized new hardware and already had the driver re-installed.

 

What should I do?
