Considering a 9100? Don't
I bought one of these a while ago. I don't have a lot of space so replacing my desktop machine with a notebook seemed the way to go. Since I was not planning to move it much the 9100 seemed the right choice.
One of the things I wanted was to have a port replicator so I could:
1- Move it easily when I wanted to
2- Leave the computer closed and still be able to turn it on
3- Make use of its awesome video card with an external monitor
4- Use full size keyboard and mouse
5- Have a better, quicker battery charger
So I contacted a Dell representative over chat and specifically asked about a port replicator (I bought the system about a month after it was available) and the person said one was coming.
I got my system after a few delays and I guess I should have realized it, but the system doesn't have a way for you to connect it to a port replicator. When I finally realized that one was not coming I tried sending it back but unfortunately more than 60 days had passed, so now I have to deal with it until I can afford another system :-(
Multiple emails sent to Dell were never answered, I guess the company is not as it used to be anymore. I have purchased 5 Dell computers and thought I couldn't go wrong but I will definitely consider other options in the future.
