Printing problems with 5100cn printer
I've been having a problem with my 5100cn color laser printer. For some reason, when printing with the PCL driver, the top 25% of the page seems to get repeated all they way down the paper. There is also a dark shading that covers the entire page. The PS driver seems to print fine, as well as PCL output that has color on the page. The config page printed directly from the printer also looks bad. I did notice that before it prints the color page, the printer says that it is calibrating, then prints a good looking page.
The printouts have been gradually getting lighter over the past couple days, even though the printer still shows 60% left in the black toner. I would have replaced the black toner, but I don't think that is causing the problem with the repeated images. If that were the case, it wouldn't matter which driver was being used.
Here is a summary of what I tried to fix it:
- updated printer drivers on my computer
- updated firmware on printer
- replaced fuser
- cleaned density sensor
- reset NVRAM to get back to factory settings
The program I'm printing from doesn't seem to have any effect either. MS Word and Acrobat PDFs both will give equally bad results with the PCL driver. Below is a sample of the output I'm getting:
Thanks for any help you can give me.
