Questions on EX Platform...ie Server Version vs. OWA plugin vs. UC
Hey all,
It's been awhile since I've checked in the downloads section for EX and noticed a new 1147 version of the EX platform.
I'm running EX b655 and its been humming along relatively quiet for the last several months. One reason I didn't try upgrading to a new build was that the new UserCache server install had to force each client to upgrade to the same build. It took over a year to get UC out to all my users (750) in between all of the EX bugs we were finding. The old versions of UC used to be able to still talk to an upgraded UC server.
Now that there's a swanky new S1 version of Offline Access, I'd like to be able to give my users access to it...but do I have to upgrade my EX platform to 1147 before starting to use it?
On my machine that was running Outlook2k7 not in exchanged cached mode, with only my search plugin and I went ahead and installed the new S1 offline access program for grins and giggles. I like it...seems much quicker, but the emails with attachments don't allow me to click the attachment (say a word file) and preview it within the mail window. Not sure if this is normal.
Also...my users have thousands of shortcut messages in their mailboxes and it is NOT possible to restore all of them.
Anyone have any experience upgrading the UC program to the S1 version for a large number of people. I saw it came with an ADM file which is great...so I assume I can push the settings and program down. But will it upgrade the UC or remove it and install the S1?
Any thoughts or experiences with upgrading EX platform and taking advantage of the S1OA in lieu of the old UC program would be much appreciated.
