Disk error on XPS 8000 using RAID 1

I have a Dell XPS 8000, it came with two WD 320 GB drives in a RAID 0. I rebuilt it with RAID 1 for redundancy, unfortunately losing the Utility Partition.

At this time I am geting the following error in the Windows system log, as well as experiencing lockups and slowness:

Log Name:      System
Source:        Disk
Date:          4/8/2012 9:30:15 AM
Event ID:      11
Task Category: None
Level:         Error
Keywords:      Classic
User:          N/A
Computer:      Stormtrooper
Description:
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk5\DR6

I have downloaded the Western Digital diagnostics, but they can't find an issue, in part because they don't see two WD drives, they see the RAID array. I have also installed Intel's excellent Matrix Storage mgmt software. Which has increased my event logging, but not enough to indicate which drive, if indeed it is a drive, is bad.

Have you seen this error in a RAID configuration? How do I identify the bad drive? How do I diagnose with RAID?

Thanks,

Paul
