ok, if you use your laptop as a server then you want the E7K60.
if not then you want the 7K60.
get the 7K60 from either http://www.scan.co.uk or http://www.dabs.com

I think E7K60 is better than 7k60 for laptop.

You think wrong. The e7k60 is designed for blade server usage, not laptop usage. The right drive for a laptop is the 7k60.

Thanks mate, I will have a word with them tomorrow, though I suspect that the person on the phone will be most probably unaware of what e7k60 is and whther this one is 7k60 or e7k60 for which I've made my mind already. any ideas as to whteher this is the e7k60 or not?
I've also check other inspirons and judginfg by the part number that is the only (7200rpm) hard drive offered by Dell UK as an upgrade to some inspirons.

Dell does not offer the e7k60 in any laptop.

You do not want to install an e7k60 in your laptop - it is not designed for that use.

Dell has a Super Price on 7K60s at $146.

We're running two 7K60s on our i600M and now, one 7K60 on our i8200. We got our units before the price drop, but we still are very satisfied with our Hitachis. You can't do better.

No one is saying that it can't be used as it shares the same factor as its brother. However if you view the specs then you will see that the E7k60 has a lower maximum rated operating usage temperature than the 7k60.

I also read this about the E7K60, Due to the ABLE power management feature being disabled in the E7K60 products, power performance will not be optimal when used in a laptop environment.

And I just read this on the Hitachi site about warranty, Travelstar Products, 2.5" form factor - 3 years, so you can get the drive anywhere and have a 3 year warranty
