External HDD issue
Hey,
I have a 1TB external HDD, it is not readable on the laptop. Anybody has any idea how can I get it replaced considering it is in warranty. My current location is Mumbai, India. There is no express service code anywhere on the back of the HDD.

Hello,
What laptop are you attempting to read the data off that hard drive from? And what version of Windows is currently on that laptop? What happens when you plug the hard drive in, and is it connecting via USB or wireless? What brand and model is the external drive?
I don't believe you'll find a service tag on the external drive, even if you purchased it from us. The laptop, though, should have a service tag and if you go to our main support site, input that service tag, the system will refresh to show you the model type of laptop you're using.
Once we know a bit more about what hard drive you're trying to connect, to which laptop and which version of Windows is on the system, along with what you're seeing when you do connect the drive, we can offer a bit more detailed suggestions on how to resolve the problem. Please do let us know the above information and we'll help you as much as we are able.

Hi Todd, thank you for the reply.
I'm currently using a Dell Studio 1555 series laptop with Windows 7Home premium edition on it.
The HDD is a 1TB drive, there is no specific name to the HDD. I tried to dinner the HDD to other laptops too, but it just doesn't show up in the system, it's not reading on any Windows platform as I ran a check on XP and Windows 10 too just to be sure.
I was looking for a replacement since it is still in warranty, if you could connect me to someone who would see through this it would be of great help.

You can go to http://www.dell.com/Support and then click on the "Contact Us" link to get contact information for the order and returns group for where you live. They will be able to help you.
