Replacing ND1100a
I have a NEC nd 1100a combo drive that comes with my 8250. For some reason ( and no one seems to know), it no longer recognizes the dvd portion of the drive (read/write CD ok). I am think of replacing it with a NEC 2500a dvd/cd combo burner. It seems to be reasonably priced at $85.00. Has anyone try to replace the exsiting NEC 1100a with this 2500a sucessfully ? Or should I replace it with another brand of DVD/CD combo burner ?

If you want to replace it the ND2500A will work fine. Actually any IDE ATAPI internal drive will work.
I recently installed a NEC ND2500A drive in my PC and it's working great. I've only burned one DVD, but I've burned a lot of audio CD's and no problems. It's quiet, too.
