I ran into a problem after installing NAV 2006 and doing a full system scan. I could get to the account logon screen but the desktop does not load after selecting an account and entering the password. It responds well to the 3-finger-salute and task manager shows a little bit of activity but no desktop appears. The symptoms are the same whether I do a normal or a safe mode boot.

 

I attempted a repair install from the recovery CD but it fails 6 minutes into installing devices with a BAD_POOL_CALLER message and a stop code of 0X000000C2 (0x00000007, 0x00000CD4, 0x00340045, 0XE1A70AFC).
