Talking Tech with Travis: Episode 12 – VMware

Dell and VMware at VMware Explore 2022: A Conversation with John Gilmartin.

Businesses need to leverage multiple cloud platforms to maximize resource efficiency. The debate on whether multicloud can deliver the agility of public cloud and the control and security on an on-prem cloud is over. What multicloud gave rise to however, was more complexity. As organizations increased the diversity of cloud platforms in the IT ecosystem, they were also required to hire a diverse set of skills sets to manage each of those unique cloud deployments.

Dell Technologies and VMware set out to solve the challenge of cloud complexity, and delivered in a big way at VMware Explore 2022, with a set of announcements aimed at eliminating operational silos with jointly engineered solutions that deliver a consistent operational experience across your multicloud landscape. We continue to extend the consistent operational experience further to network-challenged edge locations and announced enhancements to our APEX offering.

On this episode of Talking Tech, I’m joined by John Gilmarten, Sr. Vice President  of cloud, storage and data at VMware. John has joined to share his perspective on VMware’s announcements at Explore including vSAN Express Storage Architecture, vSphere Distributed Services Engine (also known as Project Monterey) and the latest with VMware Tanzu. John and I also discuss how we’ve worked together to engineer these new VMware technologies into Dell solutions. Together we’re bringing some great innovation across the Dell multicloud portfolio including enhancements to VxRail and APEX as well as a new Validated Design for AI. While these new features span our product portfolio, they have one thing in common – they’re all designed to simplify the multicloud operational experience with a consistent operational model.
