FAQ

PowerStore supports block, file, and container workloads with protocols like NVMe-oF, iSCSI, SMB, and NFS. It’s ideal for databases (OLTP/OLAP), virtualized environments, and file-based workloads that need sub-millisecond latency, high throughput, and simplified management.

NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) is a high-speed protocol built for SSDs. PowerStore uses end-to-end NVMe, NVMe-oF networking, and dual active controllers to deliver lower latency, higher efficiency, and better performance than hybrid HDD/SSD arrays.

PowerStore delivers 99.9999% availability with redundant hardware and active/active controllers. It offers local, remote, and cloud-based data protection, plus immutable snapshots, encryption, and role-based access controls to safeguard mission-critical applications.

PowerStore T models use TLC flash for performance-heavy workloads like databases and VMs, while Q models use QLC flash for cost-effective, capacity-driven needs like file repositories and archiving. Both deliver NVMe performance, scalability, and data reduction.

PowerStore lowers TCO with guaranteed 5:1 data reduction, higher density vs. spinning/hybrid arrays, and automation that saves admin hours. It supports scale-up and scale-out growth without disruption and includes Lifecycle Extension with ProSupport for long-term savings.

PowerStore Metro Volume ensures continuous availability across sites with automated failover and a free third-site witness. It’s easy to set up and delivers zero-disruption business continuity for VMware, Linux, and Windows environments.

PowerStore stands out with: 1) Granular scaling (single-drive increments, mix-and-match appliances); 2) Dual active/active controllers and always-on data reduction; 3) Guaranteed 5:1 data reduction ratio; 4) Flexible upgrade paths with Lifecycle Extension; 5) Native integrations with VMware, Dell PowerProtect, and Dell Cloud; 6) #1 Ease of Use with AI-driven management

Lifecycle Extension (LCE) prevents costly, disruptive upgrades by offering non-disruptive next-gen, higher model, or scale-out upgrades. With LCE, PowerStore delivers continuous modernization, lower costs, and long-term investment protection. Benefits include redeemable upgrades just 180 days after enrollment, no forced controller or capacity purchases, lower expansion costs with every drive upgrade, annual expert reviews and workload planning, full deployment services included.
