Important Information for installing Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 on Dell PowerEdge R230, R330, T330, and T130:

The chipset for these platforms supports only USB 3.0 controller, However, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 operating system (OS) does not natively include XHCI drivers that are required for USB 3.0 controllers to function. When you boot these servers using the Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 installation media, the USB devices (including keyboard and mouse) connected to the server do not function.

To install this OS on these servers, you must include the USB 3.0 drivers into the installation media. You can also download the driver update utility to automatically update the USB 3.0 drivers into the OS image. For information on the process, see the following link:

Disable 3.0 from the Server BIOS setting and install OS.

Download
1. Click Download Now to download the file.
2. When the File Download window appears, click Save to save the file to your hard drive.

Installation
1.Browse to the location where you downloaded the file and double-click the new file.
2. Read over the release information presented in the dialog window.
3. Download and install any prerequisites identified in the dialog window before proceeding.
4. Click the Extract button.
5. Open Command Prompt.
6. Type below command
a. pnputil.exe -a \*.inf
7. Reboot Server and enable USB3.0 from Server BIOS settings.

If installing DUP from within the OS while USB 3.0 is enabled:
1. Execute the DUP
2. Read over the release information presented in the dialog window.
3. Follow the instructions of installation.
4. Open Device Manager
5. Right-click on 'IDRAC Virtual USb NIC' and select 'Scan for hardware changes'
