Cluster shutdown
VxRail Manager does not handle VSAN witness host during the cluster shutdown and startup process.
To shut down the VxRail 2 node ROBO cluster, follow the following steps.
Cluster shutdown
- From VxRail UI, initialize cluster shutdown. Follow the wizard to proceed. The two physical VxRail hosts power off.
- VxRail does not handle Witness. It is required to manually be placed into maintenance mode with no data migration option, and powered off.
- Power on witness host and exit from maintenance mode at first. This is important. Otherwise, VSAN cluster may suffer temporary partition until witness host is ready.
- Observed witness host is ready. Power on the two VxRail physical hosts.
- You may have to manually enable HA and power on VxRail system VMs if VSAN objects are not back into healthy state in 5 minutes.
